Ryan case: Parents fume, say will withdraw wards
GURGAON: Furious over the transfer of suspended officiating principal of Ryan International School, Bhondsi, as a teacher in the group’s Sector 40 branch, parents said that if the school management reinstates Neerja Batra, they would withdraw their wards with immediate effect and not pay the fee.
Batra was suspended from Ryan I nternational School, Bhondsi, on September 9 after the murder of an eight-year-old boy in the school premises a day before.
The Sector 40 school management said two parents have taken the transfer certificate. A group of parents also met the principal of the branch and discussed their concerns. They were assured that Batra will not take any classes and will not join the school unless her role is clear in the case and until the investigation is over.
Meanwhile, the CBI team visited the crime spot again on Tuesday and is focusing on the role of some outsider in the incident.
Also, the Gurgaon police are looking for an appropriate space near the school for a temporary office for the CBI. “We are looking for an office space or government accommodation near the school in Bhondsi as the teams have to visit the crime spot frequently and the case will take some time. Travelling from Delhi becomes difficult for the team as the spot needs to be visited and the investigation is in full swing,” said Ashok Bakshi, deputy commissioner of police (south Gurgaon).
SHO TRANSFERRED
Even though the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is still investigating the murder case, the station house officer (SHO) of Bhondsi, who was investigating officer of the case when it was with the Gurgaon police, has been transferred on deputation on Monday.
SHO Narender Kumar left the charge of the police station on Tuesday. He has been transferred to Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited, Panchakula.
The families of the victim and the accused have raised questions on the Gurgaon police after sudden transfer of the police officer. Earlier, another officer associated with the case, Pataudi ACP Tanya Singh, was also transferred to Kurukshetra on September 29.
Both the families are alleging that the transfer of police officials and resumption of suspended officiating principal in another branch of the school is suspicious and points towards connivance of the officials. The CBI took over the probe from Gurgaon police on September 22.
Advocate Mohit Verma, defence counsel for Ashok Kumar, said there was something suspicious about the police’s role in the case. “SHO Narendra Kumar was trying for his posting after the case was handed over to the CBI. How can Gurgaon police transfer an inspector in between such an important case, which is still under investigation? It’s a big question mark on Gurgaon police,” he said.
