Bicentenary celebrations at CJM, New Delhi
Convent of Jesus and Mary , Bangla Sahib Lane
welcomed Mother General Monica Joseph and nuns and delegates from 28 countries, where the Jesus and Mary congregation has a presence.
To commemorate 200 years of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary and welcome the delegates, CJM, New Delhi had a spectacular programme.
The school was bedecked with flowers and blue and white buntings. The guests were welcomed in the traditional manner with tilak and garlands. Marchers, dandiya dancers and skaters escorted them to Claudine Hall.
The theme was India, showcased with symbols like the saree, the namaskar, the syncretic Indian culture with a rendition of t he Sikh hymn :Sumiran kar le….” and four Indian classical dances. All the dances were a fusion of classical dance forms and the grand finale, a splendid combination of Mohiniattam, Bharat Natyam, Kathak, Manipuri and Odissi to the strains of ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’, successfully embodied the CJM ethos and India itself.
The programme ended with the Congregational Anthem. It was a grand effort on the part of the teachers and participating students – an expression of pure joy.
