Govt may start crèches to keep minors safe
NEW DELHI: To keep minors in Delhi safe from sexual predators, the Delhi government may soon start crèches in slums across the city. This was one of the many initiatives discussed in a meeting on women safety held at the lieutenant governor’s house on Monday.
A spokesperson at the L-G house said that 90% of dark stretches in the city have been illuminated. Many places in Delhi, where the absence of street lights made the spot vulnerable to crime, were identified by police and the list was given to the government, power companies and civic agencies. “NDMC commissioner informed about the dual use of high mast tower and mobile tower on pilot basis in the NDMC areas,” the spokesperson said.
Delhi’s principal secretary (home) informed the L-G that a drive is being launched against illegal storage and sale of acid. The L-G also asked police to study the causes of acquittal in sexual assault cases.
