NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old woman, who was gang-raped and robbed allegedly by a taxi driver and his associate in Greater Noida, led a police team to the alleged crime spot on Friday.

Ishwar Singh, DCP (south), said the woman was able to identify the exact spot near Pari Chowk in Greater Noida where she said she was gang-raped. However, that has not helped the investigators as they remained clueless about the two suspects.

Even though the woman claimed that she did not know the suspects, she has been able to pro- vide a detailed description of their appearance. The officer said that the investigators are verifying the details given by her and trying to reconstruct the sequence of events.

The woman, a resident of outer Delhi’s Rohini, had approached Delhi Police with her complaint in the early hours of Wednesday. Since the location from where she boarded the taxi falls under the jurisdiction of Hauz Khas police station, a FIR was registered on Thursday.

The woman told the police that she wanted to visit a temple in Uttar Pradesh and was to board a bus from Sarai Kale Khan on Tuesday evening. But she missed

the bus after which an auto driver offered to drop her somewhere in Hauz Khas from where she could get a taxi.

“The woman finally got a taxi, but the driver drove her to Greater Noida and even picked up another person on the way. Somewhere in Greater Noida, the two men got off the taxi on the pretext of urinating. The woman began speaking to her husband over the phone during that time. But when the men returned, they snatched her phone and sexually assaulted her inside the taxi,” said the DCP quoting the woman.

On Thursday, the employer of the woman’s husband, who accompanied the couple to the police station had said that she was gang-raped in the bushes on the roadside.
