NEW DELHI: Delhi Police have arrested two men, including a driver, for allegedly carrying off a heist where they lifted articles worth Rs 40 lakh from a cargo truck earlier this month.

The arrested men have been identified as Sanjay Yadav and Hukum Dev Yadav.

The alleged mastermind Hukum planned the heist with Sanjay, the driver of a third-party vendor providing transportation to an app-based logistics company, said the police.

As per the plan, the truck carrying electronic items that left Indira Gandhi International Airport cargo for its destination in Kapashera never reached there.

“The complainant Mukesh Kumar had hired the services of a mobile app, which engages in transportation of goods and offers commercial vehicles for last-mile delivery through thirdparty vendors,” said a senior police officer.

Later, the said truck was found abandoned and empty under the Rajokri flyover, NH-8, Delhi. As per the contents of the complaint, a case of breach of trust was registered.

“The mobile phone of the truck driver was found switched off and then CDRS of those calling him frequently were analysed. This surveillance led to tracing of his location and he was arrested from Pochanpur village in South West Delhi,” said the officer.

During interrogation, Sanjay disclosed the alleged role of his accomplices Roshan and Hukum Dev.

Based on description provided by the arrested accused about co-accused and mastermind Hukum Dev Yadav was also arrested.
