Juvenile wants to sit for exams, resumes studies
GURGAON: The 16-year-old juvenile in conflict with the law, apprehended by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Ryan murder case, aims to appear for the year-end exams in mid-february and has sought syllabus books from his parents.
He has been lodged at an observation home since November 11.
“The exams are in February and my son is tense that he will not be able to perform well this time. The atmosphere at the observation home is hostile and he is not able to concentrate on his studies,” the boy’s father said on Wednesday.
He was speaking after appearing at the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Board, where he was given a copy of the CBI’S application seeking the fingerprints of the juvenile.
The juvenile has also asked his parents to send his musical instruments to the observation home. The boy’s father said that he had sought permission from the superintendent of the home for it.
The CBI had apprehended the juvenile on November 7 for the murder of Pradhyumn Thakur, a Class 2 student of Ryan International School, Bhondsi.
The JJ Board in Gurgaon adjourned the hearing on CBI’S application seeking fingerprints of the accused to December 6, when the juvenile will be produced before the board.
Sandeep Aneja, the lawyer for the juvenile, had on Tuesday evening moved two applications before the JJ Board — for a copy of the CBI’S application seeking the juvenile’s fingerprints and a hearing into allegations that the CBI interrogated the juvenile beyond the prescribed time limit.
The CBI had moved a two-page application before the board on November 11 to take the fingerprints of the juvenile. The application stated that during investigation, fingerprints were lifted from the scene of the crime — the washroom and school toilet.
“The sample fingerprints of the juvenile are essential for the probe,” the application stated.
Sources close to the investigation said the CBI has extracted some portions of the toilet wall and toilet cubicle to cross-check it with the juvenile’s fingerprints.
