Ivanka ends India tour with visit to Golkonda Fort

HYDERABAD: Ivanka Trump, the daughter and adviser of United States President Donald Trump, on Wednesday concluded her India tour with a visit to Hyderabad’s inconic Golkonda Fort.

Accompanie­d by senior Telangana and US officials, Ivanka visited the 15th century monument built by the kings of Qutub Shahi dynasty.

“It’s just amazing. America doesn’t have such a magnificen­t monument,” she said and complement­ed authoritie­s for preserving a historic monument in the heart of the city.

The 36-year-old, who had come to Hyderabad to attend Global Entreprene­urship Summit (GES) was also scheduled to visit Charminar and Lad Bazar (Bangle Bazar) in the old city, but the plan was dropped at the last minute due to security concerns.

Meanwhile, the Telangana government headed by chief minister K Chandrasek­har Rao hosted dinner for the delegates of the GES on the lawns of the Golkonda Fort in the evening.

Over 2,000 delegates and guests, including senior ministers and higher officials of the state and central government­s attended the dinner, where Telangana delicacies were served.

Earlier on Wednesday, Ivanka called for closing the gender gap in workforce by providing the woman workforce better access to capital and ensuring better representa­tion in highvalue industries.

She underlined the need for more progressiv­e policies to address the stagnation which set in a decade ago in closing the gender gap.and also noted that women dominate those sectors of the economy which are undervalue­d financiall­y.
