Ensure toilets, parks are well lit, L-G Baijal tells civic agencies
NEWDELHI: Delhi lieutenant governor (L-G) Anil Baijal on Monday asked the three municipal corporations of Delhi to ensure proper lighting arrangement i n and around all toilet complexes and public parks.
“Proper lighting arrangement should be ensured in and around all toilets complexes and public parks across the city. It was desired that a weekly progress report will be sent to the principal secretary urban development in this respect,” read a press statement from the L-G’S office.
The statement also quoted the L-G as saying that the authorities must ensure proper sewage connections for toilets.
Baijal issued the instructions while reviewing the progress of sanitation and beautification works of the three corporations during the routine fortnightly meeting on Monday.
The meeting was attended by chief secretary, principal secretary, urban development and other officials of the Delhi Development Authority, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board and the three commissioners of the corporations.
The statement said that the three commissioners of respective corporations apprised Baijal about measures taken regarding cleanliness, sanitation, redevelopment of markets. “As regards to use of toilets in restaurants (including petrol pumps), it was informed that all toilet facilities have been made available free of charge for women and children,” said the statement.
The L-G was also informed about the steps taken for proper lighting in and around the toilets complexes.
