Woman goes to relieve herself; raped, robbed by three men in Rohini

NEWDELHI: A 28-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by three men while she went to a forest area near her village to relieve herself in Shahbad Diary in Rohini district on Thursday morning, police said.

The woman is undergoing treatment in a hospital. Police have registered a case. No arrest was made till Saturday night.

The crime incident took place around 5am when the woman went out of her house to relieve herself in a nearby forest area. Three men allegedly arrived at the spot and pointed a knife at her. They threatened her and allegedly took turns to rape her. Later they dumped her in the forest after she lost consciousn­ess.

When the woman regained consciousn­ess, she spotted some passersby and cried for help. Her screams also alerted the locals. They went to her and found that she was bleeding and was seminaked. One of them informed her family as well as the police.

The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she is stated to be in a critical condition. Sources said that there were bite marks on her cheeks. She lives in Pansari village. Her parents worked as labourers.

The police have recorded the woman’s statement.

Deputy commission­er of police (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta said, “We received a call in the morning. It was learnt that the woman’s earrings and bangles have been stolen by the three men. She was thrashed and her face was swollen. Later in the afternoon, we received another call about the woman’s rape. She has been hospitalis­ed. As yet, no arrests have been made.”
