NEW DELHI: For Aditya Mittal, the morning coaching classes before work and studying during Delhi Metro rides paid off. He secured third rank in the All-india chartered accountant final examination, results of which were declared on Wednesday by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).

The ICAI declared the result for exam held in November last year with all-india second and third positions being bagged by students from Delhi.

Prashant, who goes by his first name, from Delhi bagged the second position with a score of 71.38% while Mittal bagged the third position with a score of 70.62%. The all-india topper is Mohit Gupta from Karnal. Gupta scored 73.38%.

Mittal, an alumnus of Delhi University’s Shri Ram College of Commerce, said he had drawn up a careful study plan when he decided to take up chartered accountancy for higher studies.

“I think it is important to plan everything. I had a plan for preparing each subject, which I followed diligently. After college finished in 2015, I took up articleship with Pricewaterhousecoop- ers (PWC) in Gurgaon and purposely took up coaching in south Delhi so that I could reach office on time,” he said.

Mittal, a resident of Pitampura, said he used his long commute in Metro to prepare for the exam. “I used to take Metro from Pitampura for coaching and then to office in Gurgaon. I used to spend a fairly good amount of time travelling via Metro and I utilised it to study,” he said.

Mittal started taking coaching in April last year. “The coaching used to be at 6.30 am, after which I used to go to office. My article- ship is ending in April this year,” he said.

Since December 1949, the chartered accountancy examination is held twice in a year in the months of May/juneand November/december. The chartered accountants final examination held in November last year had 1,28,853 registered students.

The ICAI also announced the results for common proficiency test (CPT) which was held in December last year. The number of students admitted in the CPT Exam stood at 63, 035, a statement from ICAI said.
