NEW DELHI: The Noida authority has handed over a list of 37 housing projects, whose builders’ accounts will be audited to find if or not these developers misused the money collected from the homebuyers.

The authority had on November 8 hired Curry & Brown for auditing 51 projects in Noida.

It has already audited 14 projects and submitted a draft report. It is expected to submit a final report shortly.

“We are likely to get the final audit report of 14 builders in three to four days. And also provided the details of remaining builders to Curry & Brown for audit,” said Alok Tandon chief executive officer of the Noida authority.

“A total of 37,309 flats are proposed in these 37 housing projects, which were launched in 2009-10 and the flats were supposed to be delivered in 2013. Homebuyers who invested in these flats want accounts audited to ascertain where did their money go,” said another Noida authority official.

“The Noida authority can file FIR, impose penalty and also recover money by issuing notices against the builders, who will be found guilty of diverting funds. We are waiting for the final audit report,” said Manmohan Mishra financial controller of the Noida authority.

The audit report of 37 builders is expected to be ready in next 45 days, said officials.

The builders’ body, Confederation of real estate developers association of India (CREDAI), will also expel errant builders from its group.

“We have expelled 15 builders, who were found harassing buyers or investors from our association. And if the audit report will establish that a builder has diverted the funds meant for construction, then we will take action against each of them. We will expel the guilty builder from our association,” said Subodh Goel legal head of CREDAI.
