JAMSHEDPUR: Jamshedpur’s Jerry Mawhmingthanga scored the fastest goal in the history of the Indian Super League to give the home side the lead just 22 seconds after kick-off. Steve Coppell’s side men did not look back after that, eventually winning 2-1 after Ashim Biswas had added another in the first half against Kerala Blasters.

Ashim was involved in the opening goal as well when his attempt was deflected into Jerry's path, who latched onto the loose ball, rounded Rachubka and slottedhome to start the game with a flurry.

Jamshedpur extended their lead when Bikash Jairu’s cross was missed by both Jerry and Sandesh Jhingan. Ashim was waiting though, and swept it into the net to make it 2-0.

The first 20 minutes of the second half were cagey at best.the game needed a goal to open up, but it came too late, when Mark Sifneos, tapped in a header in injury time.

Jamshedpur’s game manage- ment saw off the final few minutes to record their first home win of the season.

The win took Jamshedpur to 7th position, on 13 points, just one behind Kerala Blasters with a game in hand

MUMBAI LOOK AVENGE LOSS TO BENGALURU

MUMBAI: Beaten in their last home game, Mumbai City will look to defeat Bengaluru when the two sides clash here on Thursday.

A win will ease pressure on Mumbai, placed fifth with four wins from 10 games.

Also, the home side will be keen to seek revenge as they had faced a 2-0 drubbing from Bengaluru.

But Mumbai will face a tough challenge from the Bengaluru boys who have Sunil Chhetri, known to turn things around, and they, too, would be keen to taste victory.

Bengaluru are placed second with six wins from 10 matches, but lost to Delhi Dynamos 2-0 in their last game and would look to get back to winning ways. Likewise, Mumbai were beaten 1-0 by Kerala in their last game.
