POLICE FIRE AT PROTESTERS IN ASSAM, TWO DEAD

GUWAHATI: Two people, including a woman, were reportedly killed while nine others were injured when police fired on protesters at Maibong railway station in Dima Hasao district of southern Assam on Thursday afternoon. The incident took place when police resorted to firing to disperse the protesters who were blocking rail tracks as part of a 12-hour bandh opposing proposed inclusion of the district in Greater Nagalim.
