NEW DELHI: A Okhla resident, who claimed to be a Congress worker, alleged that he was beaten up by the Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan and his supporters after his bike hit by a car.

The incident took place in Jamia Nagar on Saturday afternoon.

Faizan Sarkar, a Congress worker alleged that he was hit by a car while going home.

“I fell on the ground and the people sitting in cars came out and started yelling at me. They accused me for driving haphaz- ardly on the road. Meanwhile, MLA Amanatullah Khan and his volunteers also joined them and started beating me after brief argument.”

“I visited the Jamia Nagar police station after the incident and file a complaint,” said Sarkar.

However, Khan claimed that he was not present at the site and busy in a meeting with the Public Works Department officials at that time.

In the statement issued by the AAP said that cross FIRS were filed by two groups.

“The case is related to one Congress worker Faizan driving a vehicle and had altercation with an old aged pedestrian crossing the road. Amanatullah was not there at time of incident. He was with some government officials at that time,” it said.

However, Chinmoy Biswal, deputy commissioner of police (southeast district) said, “We have received cross complaints from both the parties.”

“The injured from each group have been sent for the medical examination. Their complaints and allegations will be verified and, if required, the local police will register cross-first information reports (FIRS) in the matter,” DCP Biswal said.
