Centre blaming us before a probe: AAP
NEWDELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday alleged that some bureaucrats, instead of serving the people of Delhi, were acting at the behest of the Centre to destabilise their government in the national capital.
The party criticised Union home minister Rajnath Singh for tweeting about the incident before it was probed and hinted at the BJP’S involvement in the alleged mob attack at Delhi secretariat later in the day.
AAP senior leader and national spokesperson Ashish Khetan on Tuesday alleged he and minister Imran Hussain were attacked by a group of people in two separate incidents in the Delhi secretariat.
The alleged incident came a day after state chief secretary Anshu Prakash alleged that he was attacked by AAP MLAS during a meeting at CM Arvind Kejriwal’s residence.
“The Delhi secretariat houses the offices of Delhi’s chief minister, and the entire government functions from there. The question is who ordered the attack on the minister? At whose behest was such a riot-like situation created within the premises?” Khetan said.
Home minister Singh had earlier in the day tweeted that he was deeply pained by the incident by the incident involving the chief secretary. “The civil servants should be allowed to work with dignity and without fear,” he wrote.
“We have sought time with the home minister to discuss the matter. He has not yet granted it. He met the IAS Association members promptly. I hope he meets us too with the same promptness. We will meet the lieutenant-governor to register our complaint,” Khetan said
Khetan criticised Singh for tweeting on the issue before a formal inquiry. “Let there be an independent and credible inquiry. But in the interim, the administration should not suffer,” he said.
“How can we expect an independent probe into this case if the home minister has already declared who is at fault? It’s very unfortunate that no hearing has been granted to us,” he said.
