Road rage: Man shot at thrice in Najafgarh
NEW DELHI: In a road rage case in outer Delhi’s Najafgarh, a 19-year-old man was shot at thrice in front of his father on Wednesday night, police said.
The man, Pritesh Mazumdar, was hit in his shoulder, chin and hand, but did not receive any lifethreatening injuries.
“The victim has been discharged from hospital,” Shibesh Singh, deputy commissioner of police (Dwarka), said.
The officer said Pritesh is pur- suing his graduation through correspondence and lives with his family in Najafgarh. His father, Sukesh Mazumdar, is a doctor practising alternative medicine, said the DCP.
Pritesh was returning home from Dwarka on Wednesday night when his father asked him to pick him from his clinic located on the Nangloi-najafgarh Road.
“The two of them were returning home in their car when Sukesh got involved in an altercation with a young man on the roadside,” said an investigator.
Within minutes, the man returned with three other friends on a motorcycle and a scooter. “They intercepted the car of the father-son duo and one of them immediately fired three rounds on the occupants. The assailants then sped away,” the official said.
An unconscious Pritesh was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was operated on to remove the bullets. The police have registered an attempt to murder case at Najafgarh police station and have begun a probe.
The assailants remained unidentified and on the run until Friday evening.
