ANINDITH NAMED NATIONAL MOTORSPORT­S PERSON OF 2017

CHENNAI: Hyderabad’s Anindith Reddy was crowned ‘FMSCI National Motorsport­s Person of the Year 2017’ at a function here. The 26-year-old, who has been scorching the domestic circuit since his debut in 2014, had a spectacula­r run last season, scoring a unique double and winning the MRF FF 1600 and the Euro JK 17 titles, in the two National Racing Championsh­ips.

“I would like to thank the FMSCI for honouring me with this award, as also for creating various platforms for young motorsport­s enthusiast­s in the country to sharpen their skills,” said Anindith.

FOUR ATHLETES LEAVE FOR C’WEALTH GAMES

NEWDELHI: To sharpen their skills further and get acclimatis­ed to the conditions ahead of the Commonweal­th Games, a four-member Indian athletics team, including star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, on Wednesday departed for Gold Coast. National record holder, triple jumper Arpinder Singh, and long jumpers Nayana James and Neena Varakil also left along with Chopra. The Indians will camp and train at Super Sports Center in Gold Coast till March 25 before moving to the Commonweal­th Games Village.

HARGOPAL CRICKET

NEW DELHI : The 11th Hargopal Cricket Tournament will kick off at the Modern School Grounds here with Delhi Daredevils skipper Gautam Gambhir inaugurati­ng it. Among the big teams participat­ing in the tournament are, Salwan Boys, Anglo Arabic (Ajmeri Gate), Harcourt Butler (Mandir Marg), Ramjas No 2 (Anand Parvat), Daredevil Academy and Roshanara Club.
