NEW DELHI : Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s personal secretary , Bibhav Kumar, was questioned on Thursday in connection with the case of the alleged assault on chief secretary Anshu Prakash.

Police alleged Kumar was not cooperating with the investigating team and continuously dodged questions pertaining to the alleged assault on Prakash.

The AAP said police were harassing its people and had not taken action against those involved in assaulting its minister. Police officials on Thursday said they questioned Kumar because he too was present at Kejriwal’s residence where the chief secretary was allegedly assaulted by two AAP legislators – Prakash Jarwal and Amanatullah Khan on February 19 night .

Nine other legislators and Kejriwal and deputy CM Manish Sisodia were present during a late-night meeting.

Harendra Kumar Singh, additional deputy commissioner of police (north), said Kejriwal’s personal secretary was served a notice and asked to join the probe at the Civil Police station on Thursday. Kumar arrived at 2 pm and left around 5pm.

“We asked Kumar several questions to ascertain what exactly he saw during the meeting and if he had witnessed the alleged assault on the chief secretary. Kumar was the one who had organised the meeting. We asked him to explain on whose instructions the meeting was planned and what was the urgency to schedule it around midnight,” the additional DCP said.

Singh said Kumar dodged many questions. But when confronted with the statements of other AAP MLAS, who were present in the meeting and already questioned the investigating team could gather information which they needed.

AAP’S spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj, said, “Delhi Police on directions of Central government continues to harass AAP MLAS and close aides of chief minister on the basis of a frivolous complaint by the chief secretary with no evidence.”
