HEINOUS Girl’s aunt heard her scream, rushed to save her in time
NEWDELHI: A 35-year-old man was allegedly nabbed red-handed while he was undressing a threeyear-old girl with the ‘intention of sexually assaulting her’ in southeast Delhi’s Aali village on Thursday afternoon.
Police said that timely intervention from t he minor girl’s aunt saved her from the assault.
Deputy commissioner of police (southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said they received a call around 1pm that a man had been caught for allegedly molesting a child. At the time of the incident, the girl’s parents, who work as daily wage labourers, were out and had left her with her aunt who lives in the same neighbourhood.
“The girl was playing outside her house when the accused spotted her alone. He took her to the terrace of an adjacent building and started taking her clothes off. The girl started crying and her screams alerted her aunt,” said another police officer.
The girl’s aunt then immediately rushed to her rescue and raised an alarm. Some neighbours too reached the spot and overpowered the accused. A call was also made to the police control room. When the police reached the spot, they found that the accused man had been thrashed by the neighbours of the victim. They later took him into custody. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of the injuries he suffered due to the assault.
“After being discharged, we interrogated him and he confessed that he also lived in Aali village. At the time of the incident February 15: A 10-year-old schoolgirl told police that she was molested by a cab driver in Mongolpuri June 10: An 11-year-old girl was gangraped allegedly by her two cousins in outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri. The girl had come to her relative’s home with her parents to attend a wedding ceremony

Based on the statement of the girl’s aunt, a case under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) act was registered and the accused arrested.
