29-year-old shoots wife, turns gun on himself in Faridabad

FARIDABAD: A 29-year-old man shot himself dead after killing his wife at his in-laws house in Faridabad’s Sector 30 area on Thursday.

Police have registered case of murder against the dead accused.

Police said they came to know of the i ncident after they received a call from locals of Sector 30 informing them about the sound of two gunshots from a house in the area. A team from Sector 31 police station rushed to the spot along with forensic experts.

The cops, on reaching the spot, found two bodies lying in a pool of blood inside house number 193 in Sector 30.

The deceased were identified as Narinder Singh, 29, and his wife Niki, 21.

Police said that the couple hailed from Zirakpur near Chandigarh and were not on good terms with each other for the last few months .

Police said Narinder, originally a resident of Amritsar, Punjab, had fallen in love with Niki a few years ago. The couple married four years ago.

Narinder, who worked in a private telecom company, had come to his inlaws house in Sector 30 Faridabad on Wednesday to convince his wife to return home. The couple had two children— a four-year-old daughter and a one-and-a-half-year-old son. Niki had come to live with her parents about four months ago.

Police said the accused was allegedly an alcoholic that led to fights between the couple.

On Thursday around 11 AM, Narinder tried to convince his wife to return home. After she refused, an enraged Narinder then allegedly whipped out a .315 bore pistol and shot his wife in the abdomen.

He then turned the gun on himself. Niki’s parents as well as her children were in the house when the incident took place.

“We have registered a case of murder and that under the Arms act against the accused. The bodies were shifted to BK Hospital for postmortem,” SHO Sector 31 police station Amit Kumar said. “We have also informed the family members of the accused and the post-mortem formalitie­s will take place tomorrow once they reach here,” the SHO added.
