NDMC organises workshop to improve quality of education
NEWDELHI: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Saturday organised a day-long workshop for the heads of 45 schools to discuss strategies for improving quality of education.
The workshop was organised at the NDMC Convention Centre and was attended by the civic body chairperson Naresh Kumar, secretary Rashmi Singh and education director RP Gupta.
“Education has been a primary focus of the NDMC and we are trying everything in our capacity to maintain high standards of teaching to facilitate overall development of our students,” said Kumar.
Officials said the heads of these 45 schools discussed ideas and action plans that could be followed to improve their services.
Issues such as teacher capacity and training, methods to engage parents and students and technological improvements for the betterment of the institute’s overall performance were discussed.
“We also had members of the team that is looking after the quality assessment of our schools. They shared experiences of the assessment and the feedback that could help our school heads improve,” said Gupta.
Gupta said this was the first time that such a workshop was being organised to improve the quality of education in municipal schools.
Next Saturday, the second batch of around 26 heads of schools will participate in a similar workshop.
The NDMC has been experimenting with the concept of ‘smart learning’ in their schools that will aim at combining technology and human intervention to make lessons more understandable for students.
