HT GUIDE TO ADMISSIONS
NEW DELHI: To ensure transparency, Delhi University will ask all colleges to upload lists of confirmed admissions with students’ names and registration numbers on their website on the last date of admission under each cutoff.
The colleges will also have to send the same details to the dean students’ welfare office.
The first cutoff list for admission to 61 colleges will be announced on June 19. Admissions under the first list will be held on June 19, 20 and 21.
A Delhi university official, who did not wish to be named, said, “We will ask colleges to upload names and registration number of applicants who com- plete the admission process. These details will also come to us and this way we can cross-check if the admitted student has secured the required cutoff in case of any doubt.”
The university will release five cutoffs and the admission process will be over on July 14.
The university has also asked colleges to appoint a forensic expert team to verify certificates and marksheets submitted by applicants.
Last year, at least three colleges –SGTB Khalsa, Ramjas College and Kalindi College for Women –appointed forensic teams to verify certificates.
Recently, the university suspended the admission of Swami Shraddhanand’s students’ union president, pending enquiry, on the grounds that his admission was “wrong and malafide.”
Recently, the Delhi Police unearthed syndicates that make fake boards certificates.
According to a university official, even though there has been no reported case of any admission on fake certificates, the matter was raised in admission committee meetings.
