NEWDELHI: Women candidates applying for undergradu­ate courses in 28 of the 63 Delhi University colleges are being offered a variety of options and relaxation­s.

While Ramjas College is giving one percentage point relaxation to all women candidates applying for Hindi (Hons), Sanskrit (Hons) and Political Science (Hons), officials from Sri Venkateswa­ra College said the institute will give same relaxation for women applying for courses such as BA programme, Hindi (Hons), Sanskrit (Hons), Electronic­s (Hons) and Physics (Hons).

At Atma Ram Sanatan Dharam College – which offers a total of 17 courses – relaxation of one percentage point will be offered to those applying for Mathematic­s (Hons), Computer Science (Hons), Electronic­s (Hons) and Physics (Hons). Dyal Singh College, meanwhile, is offering the relaxation for those applying to 22 courses, including Economics (Hons), Bcom (Hons) and Zoology (Hons).

Besides, there is non-collegiate women’s education board that offers BA and B.com course to women applicants from National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. “All these initiative­s are there to encourage women students to come for higher studies,” a DU official said.

Anju Gupta, director of the Non Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB), said this year, the NCWEB has 12,168 seats in 26 centres.
