GURUGRAM: A Special Investigations Team (SIT) probing the attack on the human resources manager of a Japanese automotive parts firm in Manesar said they have arrested the alleged mastermind in the case. A vendor who used to provide cabs to the victim’s firm had allegedly hired two shooters to carry out the attack as he wanted to take revenge on him for terminating his contract, police said.

The arrested accused, identified just as Rajesh (44), hails from Patheri village in Bilaspur near Manesar and was arrested from the village crossing around 2.30 pm, police said, adding that he had hired two assailants -- Sullu and Krishna-- for the job.

HR manager Dinesh Sharma was driving to work when men on two bikes followed and shot at him on the morning of June 7. He took a bullet to his back, just below the neck, when one of the bikers opened fire.

The SIT had earlier arrested two suspects — Joginder Singh, who was sacked from the post of trainee engineer in the company last month, and his friend, Daya Chand, who had earlier called the victim for a meeting, where he asked his to reinstate Singh.

DCP (Manesar) Mahender Sethi, who is heading the SIT, said the two have not been given a clean chit yet.
