Two held for cheating on pretext of govt jobs

On sustained interrogat­ion, the accused admitted that the service joining letters are fake and they cheated innocent unemployed youth on the pretext of providing government jobs.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police’s special cell has arrested two persons and busted an interstate racket involved in making forged identity cards and entry passes to enter central government offices. Police said, the gang also promised government jobs to unemployed men in Delhi, UP and Rajasthan and cheated them of ₹5 to ₹7 lakh.

The two men were identified as 41-year-old Uttam Kumar, a resident of Tilak Nagar, and Sachit Kumar Rana (34) from Shakar- pur, Delhi.

Senior officers said the forgery came to light when the special cell received informatio­n about a gang issuing fake passes and identity cards.

The persons possessing these identity cards would claim to be central government employees.

Deputy commission­er of police (special cell) PS Kushwah said, “One Uttam Kumar was identified. I was learnt he is the mastermind of this gang and claimed to a central government officer. In a raid conducted on June 30,Kumar and his associate was arrested from Laxmi Nagar. Two fake IDS were recovered from them.”

The DCP said, from a car used by Kumar and Rana, seven service joining letters of Northern Railway of candidates were also recovered.

“On sustained interrogat­ion, the accused admitted that the service joining letters are fake and they cheated innocent unemployed youth on the pretext of providing government jobs. Sachit is a computer expert and had prepared these fake letters,” Kushwah said.
