GOGI WAS NABBED FOLLOWING A TIPOFF THAT HE WOULD BE COMING TO MEET ONE OF HIS ASSOCIATES NEAR BURARI CHOWK

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police on Friday arrested a henchman of the wanted gangster Jitender Gogi, who was allegedly plotting to murder a member of the rival Tillu gang.

Senior police officials said that Gogi’s aide, identified as Rakesh Dahiya alias Raka (28) from Sonepat in Haryana, had, in the past, been booked under cases of murder, attempt to murder, as well as under the Arms Act.

He was nabbed following a tip-off that he would be coming to meet one of his associates at the service road on Shanti Swaroop Tyagi Marg near Burari Chowk, deputy commissioner of police (crime), G Ram Gopal Naik said.

“A trap was laid and we identified Raka as he arrived. The teams raided his vehicle and caught him on the spot. A loaded pistol was recovered from him,” Naik said.

Raka was allegedly involved in a 2009 murder case, in which he is said to have killed a man over a property dispute in Kanjhawala.

He was arrested in 2014 on a case of attempt to murder in Bawana and was held at Rohini jail, where he came into contact with Gogi, Neeraj Bawania, Mukesh, Himanshu, and other gangsters.

He was released in October 2017, police said.

Additional commissioner of police (crime) Rajiv Ranjan confirmed that Raka had told the police during questioning that he and his associates Mukesh and Himanshu, who had recently been released from jail, were plotting to assassinate a close associate of Sunil, alias Tillu.

They said the murder was being planned on Gogi’s directions.
