NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opened its portal for the submission of lists by schools for candidates who would appear in the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations to be conducted in February-april 2019.

The schedule for the submission of the lists with candidates’ details is from October 16 to November 5. However, there is a window to submit details following the payment of late fee till December 14.

In a letter to schools, the CBSE has said that only those candidates whose names are submitted through the online process will be allowed to appear for these crucial board examinations.

Many organisations and states are awarding scholarships based on financial status of the students and accordingly, information about the income of the parents may be collected, the CBSE has told schools. Schools, however, should not demand ITR or any other income proof from parents, the board asserted.

The board has also made it clear that candidates would be provided question papers only in the medium filled in these forms.

The CBSE has said that Class 9 and 10 is an integrated course. A student will only study the subjects in Class 10 which he or she has studied in Class 9, it said.

“If a student fails in any one of the three compulsory academic subjects (i.e. science, mathematics and social science) and passes the Skill subject (offered as 6th optional subject), then it will be replaced by the Skill subject and result of Class 10 board exam will be computed accordingly,” the board said.

If a student fails in any language subject out of the first five subjects, it will be replaced by an optional language provided the student has passed, the CBSE said.

Similarly, the CBSE has said that Class 11 and 12 is also an integrated course. For Class 12 exam, if a student has taken six subjects, and if he or she fails in any one of first five, it will be replaced by the sixth provided either Hindi or English remains one of the main five subjects, the CBSE said.
