JAPANESE PM TO HOST PRIVATE DINNER FOR MODI

NEWDELHI: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will host a private dinner for his Indian counterpar­t Narendra Modi at his holiday home near Mount Fuji on October 28, foreign secretary Vijay Gokhale said on Thursday.

Modi will pay a two-day visit to Japan from Sunday to hold the annual India-japan summit with Abe

“This is a very special gesture [that] Prime Minister Abe is making. We believe this is the first time a foreign leader is visiting Prime Minister Abe’s holiday home,” he said while briefing reporters on Modi’s visit. Abe will also host an informal lunch for Modi and the two leaders will take a stroll before visiting a nearby factory that makes automation systems, the foreign secretary added.

On Monday, the two leaders will focus on bilateral, regional and global issues, including ways to take forward cooperatio­n in the Indo-pacific, Gokhale said.
