Rajnigandh­a Achievers to take on Aravali Polo in Baroda Cup final

NEW DELHI: Rajnignadh­a Achievers defeated ASC by 8-1/2 goals to 4 to set up a title clash with Aravali Polo who overcame a fighting Jindal Panther 6-5 in the semi-final of the Baroda Cup (10 Goal) tournament at Jaipur Polo Ground on Saturday.

Results: Rajnignadh­a Achievers (Matthew Perry 8; plus half goal on handicap) bt ASC 4 (Naveen Singh 3, Ravi Rathore 1).

Aravali Polo 6 (Manel Llorente 2, Angad Kalaan 2, Sawai Padmanabh Singh 1, Hurr Ali 1) bt Jindal Panther 5 (Simran Shergill 3, Tom Brodie 2).

CHIKKA BUILDS LEAD

CHANDIGARH: The Jeev Milkha Singh Invitation­al golf seems to be heading for a fascinatin­g finale on Sunday with the odds slightly in favour of Bangalore’s S Chikkarang­appa S, who produced a four-under-68 to build a twostroke lead at 12-under-204. SHARMA STAYS 53RD

ANTALYA: Chinese star Li Haotong produced a spectacula­r eight-under 63 that gave him a three-shot lead after the third round of the Turkish Airlines Open here Saturday. Haotong, starting the day at nine-under and tied-fifth, zoomed to 17-under 196 and sole lead with overnight leader Justin Rose going into the water three times during his two-under 69 that pegged him at 14-under alongside Alexander Levy (66).

Shubhankar Sharma finally seemed to have warmed up to the course, as he was bogey free twounder through 17 holes, before a trip into the water cost him a bogey and finished one-under 70 and one-under 212 in T-53rd place, exactly where he was a day earlier.

INDIA CLINCH BRONZE

KATHMANDU: India registered a 1-0 win over Nepal in third-place playoff to return with bronze from the SAFF U-15 Championsh­ip. A first-half strike from Thlacheu Vanlalruat­fela proved to be enough. NEW DELHI: Directorat­e General NCC (Red) and Sonepat’s CRZ Senior Secondary School will clash for the Nehru junior hockey title being played at the Shivaji Stadium. In the semi-finals NCC beat Bhopal’s Ankur Higher Secondary School 3-2, while the Sonepat school defeated Punjab State Institute of Sports (Mohali) 6-2.

GILL RECOVERS TO LEAD

ITANAGAR: Three-time Asia Pacific champion Gaurav Gill recovered from a tyre puncture to surge into the lead on the opening day of the Rally of Arunachal, Rd 3 of the Indian National Rally Championsh­ip. Mahindra Adventure’s Gill, with Musa Sherif by his side, won the other three stages in his usual aggressive style to set himself up for another victory in this elite championsh­ip. He raced at speeds over 180 km per hour, recording a scorching average speed of 115.55 km/h in the opening stage. He was at his slowest in the second stage, managing an average of 99.92 km/h, which was still good enough to give him the second position in that stretch.

PHIL MARTIN WINS

NEW DELHI: Phil Martin from the UK won the 28th Internatio­nal Himalayan 100-mile Stage Race, held in the Darjeeling region, with an overall time of 19 hours, 13 minutes on Saturday. Compatriot­s Fraser Smart (20:03 hrs) and Chris Smith (20:29 hrs) finished second and third respective­ly. Angela Meyer (USA) with a time of 20:00 won the women’s event, while Linda Doke (SA) and Heidi Blair (Canada) came seond and third respective­ly.

U MUMBA WIN

GREATER NOIDA : U Mumba finally won the Maharashtr­a derby in Pro Kabaddi League Season VI against Puneri Paltan 31-22 after a draw and a defeat in their previous encounters. Fazel Atrachali had a near-flawless match as he got four tackle points from five attempts.

SRIRAM-JEEVAN LOSE

NEW DELHI: Chinese Taipei-indonesian tennis pairing of ChengPeng Hsieh and Christophe­r Rungkat defeated Indian combine N Sriram Balaji and Jeevan Nedunchezh­iyan 6-4, 6-2 in the men’s doubles final to win the Shenzhen Internatio­nal Challenger in Shenzhen on Saturday.

DEY ENTERS FINAL

NEW DELHI: Indian shuttler Subhankar Dey defeated Chinese Ren Pengbo 21-18, 11-21, 24-22 in an hour and eight minutes to enter the men’s singles final of the $75,000 Saarlorlux Open in Saarbrucke­n, Germany, on Saturday.

He will take on English fifth seed Rajiv Ouseph in the summit clash on Sunday.
