NEW DELHI: Rajnignadha Achievers defeated ASC by 8-1/2 goals to 4 to set up a title clash with Aravali Polo who overcame a fighting Jindal Panther 6-5 in the semi-final of the Baroda Cup (10 Goal) tournament at Jaipur Polo Ground on Saturday.
Results: Rajnignadha Achievers (Matthew Perry 8; plus half goal on handicap) bt ASC 4 (Naveen Singh 3, Ravi Rathore 1).

CHIKKA BUILDS LEAD
CHANDIGARH: The Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational golf seems to be heading for a fascinating finale on Sunday with the odds slightly in favour of Bangalore’s S Chikkarangappa S, who produced a four-under-68 to build a twostroke lead at 12-under-204. Nineteen-year-old Karandeep Kochhar, who fired a 70 on Day Three to be placed second at 10-under206, is also in the mix since he will enjoy the crowd support at his home course, come Sunday. Jyoti Randhawa, a nine-time international winner and the most experienced player among the top contenders, can’t be counted out either as he lurks in third place at eight-under-208 after his third round of 71.

ANTALYA: Chinese star Li Haotong produced a spectacular eight-under 63 that gave him a three-shot lead after the third round of the Turkish Airlines Open here Saturday. Haotong, starting the day at nine-under and tied-fifth, zoomed to 17-under 196 and sole lead with overnight leader Justin Rose going into the water three times during his two-under 69 that pegged him at 14-under alongside Alexander Levy (66).
Shubhankar Sharma finally seemed to have warmed up to the course, as he was bogey free twounder through 17 holes, before a trip into the water cost him a bogey and finished one-under 70 and one-under 212 in T-53rd place, exactly where he was a day earlier.
INDIA CLINCH BRONZE
KATHMANDU: India registered a 1-0 win over Nepal in third-place playoff to return with bronze from the SAFF U-15 Championship. A first-half strike from Thlacheu Vanlalruatfela proved to be enough. NEW DELHI: Directorate General NCC (Red) and Sonepat’s CRZ Senior Secondary School will clash for the Nehru junior hockey title being played at the Shivaji Stadium. In the semi-finals NCC beat Bhopal’s Ankur Higher Secondary School 3-2, while the Sonepat school defeated Punjab State Institute of Sports (Mohali) 6-2.
GILL RECOVERS TO LEAD
ITANAGAR: Three-time Asia Pacific champion Gaurav Gill recovered from a tyre puncture to surge into the lead on the opening day of the Rally of Arunachal, Rd 3 of the Indian National Rally Championship. Mahindra Adventure’s Gill, with Musa Sherif by his side, won the other three stages in his usual aggressive style to set himself up for another victory in this elite championship. He raced at speeds over 180 km per hour, recording a scorching average speed of 115.55 km/h in the opening stage. He was at his slowest in the second stage, managing an average of 99.92 km/h, which was still good enough to give him the second position in that stretch.

NEW DELHI: Phil Martin from the UK won the 28th International Himalayan 100-mile Stage Race, held in the Darjeeling region, with an overall time of 19 hours, 13 minutes on Saturday. Compatriots Fraser Smart (20:03 hrs) and Chris Smith (20:29 hrs) finished second and third respectively. Angela Meyer (USA) with a time of 20:00 won the women’s event, while Linda Doke (SA) and Heidi Blair (Canada) came seond and third respectively.

NEW DELHI: Chinese Taipei-indonesian tennis pairing of ChengPeng Hsieh and Christopher Rungkat defeated Indian combine N Sriram Balaji and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan 6-4, 6-2 in the men’s doubles final to win the Shenzhen International Challenger in Shenzhen on Saturday.
DEY ENTERS FINAL
NEW DELHI: Indian shuttler Subhankar Dey defeated Chinese Ren Pengbo 21-18, 11-21, 24-22 in an hour and eight minutes to enter the men’s singles final of the $75,000 Saarlorlux Open in Saarbrucken, Germany, on Saturday.
He will take on English fifth seed Rajiv Ouseph in the summit clash on Sunday.
