Jaffer first batsman to reach 11,000 Ranji runs

NAGPUR: Wasim Jaffer became the first batsman to touch the 11,000run figure in the Ranji Trophy competitio­n. The Vidharbha batsman achieved the milestone during the third-round match against Baroda. Continuing with his good form, the 40-year-old batsman played an impressive knock of 153 off 284 balls runs in the first innings of the ongoing match, taking his team to 529/6 declared. Faiz Fazal made 151 while Akshay Wadkar scored 102 not out. In reply, Baroda were 41 without loss. The former India batsman , who had made his firstclass debut in 1996-97, emerged as one of the legends of the Indian domestic cricket.

Jaffer had made his internatio­nal Test debut against South Africa in April 2000. He has played a total of 31 Tests in his internatio­nal career scoring 1944 runs with an average of 34.11. He has five Test centuries.

HYDERABAD MAKE 460

HYDERABAD: Ravi Teja struck his maiden first-class hundred, helping Hyderbad post a daunting 460 against Delhi. Hyderabad, resuming the day at 232 for three, continued to frustrate Delhi.

Opener Tanmay Agarwal could only add eight runs to his overnight 112 before being bowled by Delhi pacer Kulwant Khejroliya. Teja then took the innings forward with an unbeaten 115 off 206 and got help from Chama Milind, who was run out for 58. Pacers Kulwant Kheroliya and Gaurav Kumar took three wickets each.
