PRESIDENT RAM NATH KOVIND TO VISIT MYANMAR

NEW DELHI: President Ram Nath Kovind will make a state visit to Myanmar during December 10-14 to reaffirm India’s commitment to developing its important partnershi­p with the neighbouri­ng country. Kovind will visit Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon and interact with his host, President U Win Myint, and State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, the de factor head of the Myanmar government. Several agreements are expected to be signed during Kovind’s visit. Myanmar is a country where “India’s ‘Act East’ and ‘Neighbourh­ood First’ policies intersect” and it is the only Asean member that shares both land and maritime boundaries of India, the external affairs ministry said in a statement. Kovind’s visit will maintain the momentum generated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in September 2017 and Suu Kyi’s visit to New Delhi in January for the India-asean commemorat­ive summit. had gone for overnight vigil in his farm to deter the intruding animals into the standing crop.
