PRESIDENT RAM NATH KOVIND TO VISIT MYANMAR

NEW DELHI: President Ram Nath Kovind will make a state visit to Myanmar during December 10-14 to reaffirm India’s commitment to developing its important partnership with the neighbouring country. Kovind will visit Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon and interact with his host, President U Win Myint, and State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, the de factor head of the Myanmar government. Several agreements are expected to be signed during Kovind’s visit. Myanmar is a country where “India’s ‘Act East’ and ‘Neighbourhood First’ policies intersect” and it is the only Asean member that shares both land and maritime boundaries of India, the external affairs ministry said in a statement.
