Fortunegiants defeat Pirates
NEWDELHI: Gujarat Fortunegiants registered a 45-27 win over Patna Pirates in a Pro Kabaddi Season 6 match to become the second team to qualify for the play-offs. Parvesh Bhainswal produced a superb defensive show as he scored eight tackle points. Sachin and Prapanjan contributed nine raid points each to lead their team to victory. Pardeep Narwal scored just one tackle point and that cost the defending champions Patna Pirates dear.
MRF CHALLENGE
NEW DELHI: The second round of the MRF Challenge 2018-19 championship will be held on a fullfledged Formula One Grand Prix track at the state-of-the-art Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir from December 6 to 8. The MRF Challenge is in its seventh season and comprise three rounds of five races each in Dubai, Bahrain and Chennai. The Dubai round saw 20-year old Belgian Max Defourny, a graduate of Formula Renault 2.0 Euro Cup, underlining his talent by winning two of the five races and finishing on the podium in the other three.
India’s lone representative on the grid will be the debutant from Chennai, Chetan Korada. Two free practice sessions and qualifying round are scheduled for Thursday (Dec 6) while two races will be run on Friday (Dec 7) and three more on Saturday (Dec 8).
PARA CRICKETERS ADOPTED
NEW DELHI: Twenty para-cricketers of the Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India have been adopted by Orient Tradelink Limited ahead of the 2019 Cricket World Cup in UK. The cricketers will receive kits, training facilities and mental conditioning from expert coaches. According to OTL’S Aushim Khetarpal, the cricketers will be graded into three categories and financial support for training will be given accordingly. OTL works with para athletes as well.
