Police personnel posted at airport get training in good behaviour
NEWDELHI: Delhi police personnel posted at the Delhi airport police station have been trained in treating visitors with courtesy by the staff of a private airlines.
The police have termed the training “high five”, which includes the five basics – welcoming with namaskar, offering the visitor a seat, offering a glass of water, using the open palm gestures to direct like in aircraft staff and keep informing the visitor about the waiting time in the redressal of her grievance.
The training programme, conducted by Indigo staff, was attended by 50 policemen of the IGI airport unit. Deputy commissioner of police (IGIA) Sanjay Bhatia said a team of professional trainers from Indigo airline was invited for a survey of the routine work of police officers posted at the IGI airport.
“The trainers, headed by Jurian T Khan, were called in for a whole day to observe the deputed officers at the reception and monitor them for behavioural aspects which could be improved. The airline trainers introduced us to the concept of “high five” that should be reflected by every individual who is at the reception or help desk in the police station,” the DCP said.
Bhatia said, a positive and humble gesture by the police staff leaves a good impression on the general public. A post training assessment will also be conducted to check if the policemen are implementing what they have learned, he said.
After its successful completion at the IGI airport, the programme will also be conducted for the railways and Delhi Metro units of Delhi police.
The trainers observed the officers deputed at the reception and monitored them for behavioural aspects.
