Traffic restrictio­ns for Ramlila rally, avoid central Delhi today

NEW DELHI : There will be traffic restrictio­n at many places in Central Delhi on Sunday because of the Vishva Hindu Parishad rally at the Ramlila Ground on Sunday. Delhi Police said that no traffic would be allowed on Ranjeet Singh flyover from Guru Nanak Chowk to Barakhamba Road, Vivekanand Marg (both sides), JLN Marg (from Rajghat to Delhi Gate), round about Kamla Market to Guru Nanak Chowk, on Chaman Lal Marg near VIP Gate and Ramlila Maidan.

At the Ramlila Ground, the VHP has on Sunday has organised a “dharam sansad,” or a congregati­on of Hindu priests, demanding the early constructi­on of a Ram temple in Ayodhya

Joint commission­er of police(traffic) Alok Kumar, said, “Commercial vehicles will not be allowed on JLN Marg, from Rajghat to Ajmeri Gate, on Deen Dayal Upadhya Marg, from ITO to Minto Road, Desh Bandhu Gupta Road, from Paharganj Chowk and Y point of Sheela Cinema to Ajmeri Gate, Asaf Ali Road, Sharaddhan­and Marg, Barakhamba Tolstoy Marg, towards Guru Nanak Chowk.”

Traffic officials said some of the most likely affected roads would be the Ring Road from Sarai Kale Khan to Chandgi Ram Akhara, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Asaf Ali Road, Netaji Subash Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, Minto Road, Ranjeet Singh Flyover, Desh Bandhu Gupta Road, Shraddhana­nd Marg, Ajmeri Gate Side of New Delhi Railway Station and ITO.

“On the basis of real time situation, we will make necessary diversion of vehicular traffic in the area. We request citizens to look at our traffic advisory and follow our handles on social media before stepping out in south and Central Delhi,” said an officer.
