NEWDELHI: A 28-year-old man was killed and another was critically injured in a clash between two groups outside a public park in east Delhi’s Trilokpuri on Thursday night. One person was arrested in connection with the case.

Police identified the deceased as Ankit Kumar and said he had multiple stab wounds. His friend Suresh too suffered stab wounds and is undergoing treatment at a government hospital in east Delhi, said police.

The police have registered cross-firs (first information reports) against both the groups, each comprising four members, at the Kalyanpuri police station.

Deputy commissioner of police (east) Pankaj Singh said the crime took place around 11 pm on Thursday at block number-14 in Trilokpuri. Ankit and Suresh were sitting around a bonfire when their four neighbours – Sachin, Shubham, Vishal and Annu – arrived.

The allegedly mocked Ankit and Suresh.

“At this an argument broke out between them during which Ankit and Suresh slapped Shubham. This enraged Shubham and his friends and they began assaulting the duo. During the melee, Annu and Vishal overpowered Ankit and Suresh, while Shubham and Sachin stabbed them multiple times,” said DCP Singh.

The duo screamed for help and their two friends, Rakesh and Dharmu, who were nearby responded and joined them in the scuffle. Soon, the family members of the both the group members intervened and pacified them. Shubham’s father was also injured in the clash and suffered minor injuries, said police.

“Ankit and Suresh were admitted to a nearby hospital. Ankit succumbed to his injuries early Saturday,” said a police officer, associated with the case.
