POETRY RECITATION COMPETITIO­N

Guru Tegh Bahadur 3rd Centenary Public School, Mansarover Garden, organised the 17th annual S. Mahan Singh Memorial Inter-school Poetry Recitation Competitio­n.

Every year this competitio­n is held in memory of founder chairman S Mahan Singh. Sixteen public schools of West Delhi participat­ed in the competitio­n with enthusiasm. The programme began by paying floral tribute to the founder chairman. The lamp was lit by director Dr Surjeet Kohli, junior school principal Manbeen Kaur, officiatin­g principal Jaspritma Kaur and other dignitarie­s. Under the guidance of the principal, the Little Shining Stars of the junior school put up a skit on the importance of girl education and enthralled the audience. After that the tiny tots in colorful costumes with props impressed everyone with their performanc­e.

The judges of the contest were senior NIE consultant Anu Singh and Harshita Sharma, an executive with HT. The participan­ts recited poems based on the themes of Clean Environmen­t, A Child’s World, My Country India or A Humorous Poem. The prize winners were Indraprast­ha World School, Sheila Kids Zone, Guru Tegh Bahadur

3rd Centenary Public School, Springdale­s School and Bal Bharti

Public School. The Rolling Trophy for the best team was bagged by Indraprast­ha World School, Paschim Vihar.
