EX-CRICKETER’S WIFE TARGETED BY THAK-THAK GANG IN SAKET

-

NEW DELHI: A former actress became a victim of the ThakThak gang as her mobile phone was snatched from her car by unidentified men while she was driving in south Delhi’s Saket on Saturday.

Police said a case of snatching has been registered at the Saket police station and teams have been formed to nab the robbers and recover the stolen phone of Farheen Prabhakar, who has worked in Bollywood, Kannada and Tamil movies, and is married to former cricketer Manoj Prabhakar.

HT could not contact Farheen as the mobile number mentioned in the FIR was out of reach. Repeated calls and a text message sent to her husband went unanswered.

Vijay Kumar, DCP (south) said according to Farheen, around 11.40am, she slowed down at a traffic signal on the Press Enclave road. “Suddenly, a man knocked on the front passenger side window, signaling her to roll down the window. As she did so, another man started banging on the driver’s window,” he said.

Police said the second man tried to engage Farheen in a conversation. Meanwhile, the man standing near the front passenger gate attempted to pick up her purse lying on the passenger seat. “As she tried to catch hold of her bag, the other man picked up her cell phone lying on her lap and fled,” an officer said.

“We have some clues about the suspects and we are working on them,” DCP Kumar said.

Police said they are scanning CCTV footage from near the crime scene.
