Convent of Jesus and Mary celebrates centenary
Convent of Jesus and Mary, New Delhi
has arrived at a mammoth milestone of 100 years of existence in Delhi. Its motto is “to serve with love” and there cannot be a better time to exhibit this value and spread this message around the world. A reunion of all the batches that were partners in this long walk in history was organised. RHAPSODY, a musical featuring Shibani Kashyap, the Sufi – western chanteuse and Qawwali mae- stros, the Nizami Brothers peppered by the vivacious emceeing of Sonam Chhabra illuminated the celebration in the St. Columba’s grounds. Mother General, Sr. Monica Joseph, an alumnus of CJM came from Rome to congratulate the Congregation on the momentous accomplishment, and to release the centenary souvenir brochure. She congratulated her alma mater for this once in a lifetime centenary. Recalling the school motto ‘to serve with love’ she said, “It is now imprinted in my heart. My mission takes me visit our institutions in various countries. Fortunately, CJM, Delhi, is part of an International family spanning 28 countries around the world. I would really like to have an international alumni body to reach out and help the needy people around the world.”
Former principals, sisters, ex - teachers, past pupils, jubilant parents, teachers and students thronged to witness the epochmaking event in the history of CJM. Stalls selling souvenirs and delectable delicacies heightened the euphoria of the festive milieu. The raffle draw was the highpoint of the event. The first prize was a trip to Hong Kong and Macau. The evening closed with a splendid richness of sonority that will be carried in the hearts of the proud Cjmites in the years to come.
