World ranking points for golfers in new PGTI season

HYDERABAD: As many as 124 golfers, including defending champion Udayan Mane and two-time winner Ajeetesh Sandhu, will vie for honours at the Golconda Masters Championsh­ip, which is set to become the first PGTI event to have Official World Golf Ranking points. Top golfers from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Australia will look to give a tough fight to the homegrown golfers at the ~40 lakh event beginning Wednesday.

TALENT SCOUTING

NEW DELHI: The Pro Kabaddi League’s Future Kabaddi Heroes programme started in Mumbai on Tuesday. The talent scouting initiative will be conducted across 11 cities. The FKH 2019 finalists will be drafted into the auction pool for Pro Kabaddi Season 7, in the New Young Players category.

NAGAL BOWS OUT

CHENNAI: Sasikumar Mukund outclassed German Sebastian Fanselow 6-3, 6-1 in the second round of the Chennai Open ATP Challenger here Tuesday.

However, Sumit Nagal lost 3-6, 4-6 to South Korea’s Duckhee Lee.

KOCHI: Calicut Heroes registered their second win in a thrilling battle against U Mumba Volley 15-10, 12-15, 15-13, 14-15, 15-9 in Pro Volleyball League here.

For Calicut Ajith Lal C played the lead role with 16 points (15 spikes, 1 block). For U Mumba Volley, skipper Dipesh Kumar Sinha scored 11 points.
