2 held with ₹92L in for­eign notes

NEWDELHI: A 67-year-old woman and a man have been nabbed from Delhi air­port for pos­sess­ing for­eign cur­ren­cies worth over ₹92 lakh il­le­gally, of­fi­cials said on Satur­day.

CISF of­fi­cials said that the two pas­sen­gers were bound for Dubai.

CISF per­son­nel at the Indira Gandhi In­ter­na­tional (IGI) Air­port de­tected some cash in the hand bag­gage of the woman iden­ti­fied as SR Verma (67) and then with her male com­pan­ion, RK Verma’s bag on Fri­day.

“The for­eign cur­ren­cies re­cov­ered is worth ₹92,87,070 and that in­cludes $29,800, 70,350 eu­ros and

77, 040 dirhams.

“The two pas­sen­gers have been handed over to cus­toms of­fi­cials for fur­ther probe about the source of the high vol­ume of for­eign cur­ren­cies,” a se­nior CISF of­fi­cial said.
