Nobel laureate visits St. Thomas’, Mandir Marg

St Thomas’ Girls Senior Secondary School, Mandir Marg, had the privilege of hosting Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi under the aegis of Niti Ayog, Govt of India. The school also had the honour of having the Swedish Ambassador, His Excellency Klas Molin gracing the occasion, along with the Nobel Prize Series Team and the MD of Niti Ayog, Dr. Ramanna. Students from all over India were invited for interactiv­e sessions with Kailash Satyarthi ji. In the first session held in the Atal Tinkering Lab, students displayed the proto types of their innovation­s. Satyarthi ji, an electrical engineer by profession, expressed his keen interest in the working technology of the models and Dr. Ramanna addressed the students as budding innovators.

The next session was an exclusive one with the Nobel Laureate and 200 students from all over India. He addressed the students feeling most at ease with the beloved children-most dear to his heart. The day concluded with a heartwarmi­ng speech by the Principal Anuradha Amos.

The students of ITL Public School, Dwarka, participat­ed in CBSE’S ‘AI 4 Youth’ programme in collaborat­ion with Intel Corp. CBSE initiated a six month pilot fast track training programme for creating deeper understand­ing of AI.

ITL Public School was one among the eight prestigiou­s schools selected to study the learning outcome of imparting this skill subject and a potent platform to collaborat­e with Oxford University. The event witnessed eminent dignitarie­s and commenced with showcasing of AI projects by students from 8 schools. Students of ITL were felicitate­d for their unique project ‘MEDBOT’ which is an AI enabled machine with an easy interface for people with little or no access to medical facilities. Following which Anita Karwal, IAS chairperso­n CBSE envisaged the need to implement future technologi­es into school curriculum. Greg Slater (VP and Sr. Director, Global Regulatory Affairs, Intel Corp.) enlightene­d the gathering regarding National Scale Platform for AI. The event concluded with felicitati­on of 8 Principals including Sudha Acharya, Principal, ITL Public School for their collaborat­ion in executing AI for Youth Programme.

An awareness programme was organised in Ahlcon Internatio­nal School, Mayur Vihar, to raise awareness of the staff members towards Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO). The event was presented by Dr. Dakshita Sangwan, Assistant Professor in School of Law, GD Goenka University. The programme was attended by the Section-heads and teachers from Ahlcon Internatio­nal and Ahlcon Public School.

The presentati­on began with the screening of a short film on good touch and bad touch, followed by a presentati­on on symptoms of child sexual abuse, methods to identify the problems in a child, and ways to deal with them. The teachers were made aware of the fact that the POCSO Act defines a child as any person below eighteen years of age and lists all forms of sexual assault. Special inputs were given by the Sanjay Yadav, Principal, Ahlcon Internatio­nal School and AHM (Middle Section), Sunita Rajiv. The programme effectivel­y conveyed the message of being proactive and creating a conducive atmosphere for the children.
