Cops lost time fretting over jurisdiction: Vet’s relatives

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad and several cities across the country erupted in protests as anger mounted over the gang-rape and murder of a veterinarian doctor in Telangana.

On Saturday, protesters raised slogans and hurled shoes at the Shadnagar police station, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, where the four accused were briefly lodged, as baton-wielding policemen pushed back the crowd. According to the NCW, the woman’s family has alleged the police had “wasted precious time” in filing a missing person’s complaint. It added that the family was also shunted between two police stations over issues of jurisdiction.
