10 injured in BJP-TMC clashes across Bengal

KOLKATA:AT least 10 persons were injured and several properties and vehicles damaged in clashes between workers of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in several parts of West Bengal, the police said on Saturday.

Ten persons were injured in a BJP-TMC clash in Keshpur of West Midnapore district on Friday night. In Mohanpur, clashes at a party office triggered tension and led to vandalism.

TMC said its workers reclaimed the office which was captured by the BJP after state president Dilip Ghosh won the Lok Sabha polls from the Midnapore constituen­cy.

There was tension in Boardghar

area in North 24 Parganas district after a mob, said to be comprising TMC workers, stoned shops and damaged motor cycles, besides surroundin­g the car of a local BJP leader, Kishore Kar.

Kar was in the area to receive state party chief Dilip Ghosh, who was scheduled to visit the house of a party supporter allegedly ransacked by TMC workers. TMC workers gathered at the spot with black flags to stage a demonstrat­ion against him. Ghosh, however, did not turn up.

Police was rushed in to diffuse the tension. The police resorted to lathi charge bring the situation under control.

In Hooghly’s Haripal, Trinamool workers allegedly threw bombs and bricks and gave life threats over phone to BJP supporters.
