JAIPUR: Search is on for a man who allegedly killed his three children aged 7, 5 and 3 years, in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district and is absconding, police said on Saturday.

The accused was identified as Nathuram Banjara of Nimba Jodha village in Nagaur district.

Deedwana deputy SP Ganesharam Chaudhary said that Banjara was an alcoholic and was unemployed. Some neighbours told the police that he also suffered from TB.

On Friday morning, Banjara’s wife Sukha Devi and his mother went to work in the fields nearby. Sukha Devi reportedly gave him ~600 to buy some ration and feed the kids.

However, when she returned in the evening, she found all the three children hanging from the ceiling with her dupattas around their necks.

On hearing her cries, neighbors gathered at her home and informed the police.

DYSP Choudhary and Ladnu SHO Mukut Bihari Meena arrived on the spot with a police team. The children’s bodies were brought down and shifted to the mortuary. Their post mortem was done on Saturday.

Choudhary said photos of Banjara have been sent to all police stations. He said three police teams were scouring the area to nab the accused.

NEWDELHI: Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday said the government will soon announce a set of projects as part of the government’s plan to invest ₹100 trillion in infrastructure over the next five years. The minister said officers have almost completed the task of identifying big projects.

“A set of officers are looking into the pipeline of projects that can be readied so that once the fund is ready, it could be frontloaded on these projects. That task is nearly completed. Before December 15, we will be able to announce frontloading of at least ten projects,” Sitharaman said in Mumbai.

Sitharaman said she has travelled across the country, meeting officers and discussing taxation related issues to ensure their actions do not amount to any perception of harassment. The Centre is also talking to states regarding simplifying and rationalizing the Goods and Services Tax.

Sitharaman’s address to business leaders on Saturday comes as a big outreach effort by the Narendra Modi administration to support businesses and reverse the ongoing economic slowdown. “We are willing to hear, react and intervene when necessary,” said the minister.
