Integrated military commands will be in place in 3 yrs: Rawat
nNEWDELHI: India will have theatre commands overseeing the country’s borders with China in the North/north-east; Pakistan in the North/west ; and a peninsular command looking at the country’s eastern and western seaboards, Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat said in an interaction with reporters.
While this will take three years, he added the country’s armed forces are poised for the biggest reorganization ever with the creation of the “Air Defence Command.”
“During the transition the theatre commanders will be assigned to be under the service chief,” so that the change doesn’t impact the battle capabilities of the forces, General Rawat said on Tuesday.
This means that during the transition, the theatre commander will take orders from his service chief, who will take inputs from the other chiefs. “The process of transition will be deliberate and gradual,” General Rawat said.
NEWDELHI:THE government clarified on Tuesday that a budget proposal of 10% Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) will be applicable on dividend payments by mutual funds and not on gain from the redemption of units.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes said it received queries on whether the TDS requirement proposed in the Finance Bill 2020 would apply to capital gains arising on redemption of units.
“It is hereby clarified that under the proposed section, a mutual fund shall be required to deduct TDS at the rate of 10% only on dividend payment and no tax shall be required to be deducted by the Mutual Fund on income which is in the nature of capital gains,” a statement said.
