NEW DELHI: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday once again took on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over West Delhi MP Parvesh Verma’s “terrorist” remark against him, while addressing public gatherings in Narela, Ghonda, Gandhi Nagar and Vishwas Nagar assembly constituencies.

“The BJP is calling your son (referring to himself) a terrorist. I have sacrificed a lot for Delhi and I have the will to continue this work in the years to come. If you really believe in me, if you think I am your son, your brother, press the button next to the broom (the election symbol of the Aam Aadmi Party). If you too think I am a terrorist, you can vote for the BJP. The choice is yours,” said Kejriwal, addressing a gathering in Narela.

The BJP hit back, saying Kejriwal stands “exposed” and so he has changed his track.

Leader of the opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said, “Kejriwal stands exposed. He has nothing to say about his so-called achievements now. People by now have also learnt that he misled people in connection with the anti-caa protests in Shaheen Bagh. That is the reason

LAST MONTH, BJP MP PARVESH VERMA HAD CALLED KEJRIWAL A TERRORIST

why he has now based his campaign over that one remark.”

Last month, during a rally, Verma had called Kejriwal a terrorist, by equating that with his party’s statements in support of the ongoing protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh neighbourhood.

The election commission later cracked down on Verma, directing the BJP to remove him from the ‘star campaigner’ list and then imposing a temporary campaign ban on him.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which so far was solely raising its track record of development and welfare issue, took no time in incorporating the “terrorist” remark in their ongoing campaign. While Kejriwal, last week, made an emotional appeal to voters through a press conference in which he cited his health condition and mentioned about his parents to juxtapose that with Verma’s remark, the party volunteers took the message to millions of households through a dedicated door-to-door campaign.
