Priyanka seeks UP CM’S clarification on fatality data
nLucknow:congressgeneralsecretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday sought a clarification from the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath over the alleged “fraud in feeding of data on the state government portal of patients who died due to Covid infection.”
In a series of tweets, Priyanka hit out at the state government over the deaths of coronavirus patients in Agra.
Tagging a letter written by SP Goel, principal secretary to the chief minister, to the state health and family welfare officers and medical education department over the irregularities in the feeding of the death data, Priyanka said the chief minister should give a clarification to the people within 24 hours over the “fudging of data of Covid patients in the state and the CM should hold responsibility over the irregularities committed in the death tally of Covid patients.”
The letter written by Goel on June 18 went viral on social media as well. In the letter, Goel informed the officers that the CM has expressed annoyance over the contradiction in the data of patients who died due to Covid infection.
“There was ambiguity in the data that is presented to the chief minister and original death figure,” the letter said.
“On June 17, the death tally in the report handed to the CM was 30 whereas the real figure was less,” Goel said in the letter.
HT tried to contact SP Goel as well as principal secretary, medical education and principal secretary, health and family welfare for their version but there was no response from them.
