PUNJAB FARM FIRES HIT PEAK, NEAR 4,000

CHANDIGARH: Punjab clocked 3,916 farm fires on Friday, the highest so far this season, showed state government data, even as officials said that the number of blazes will likely taper over the next few days.

Friday’s farm fire count was higher than the 3,634 blazes reported on November 2. However, this number is still lower than the high of 5,327 recorded last year.
