32 NOMINATIONS FILED FOR MCD POLLS SO FAR, ALL INDEPENDENTS

NEW DELHI: The State Election Commission has received and accepted the nominations of 32 candidates for the municipal polls scheduled for December 4, the poll body said on Friday. The SEC has declared Saturday and Sunday as public holidays, thus there will be a rush of nominations on Monday -- the last day for filing nominations.

The SEC has directed officers and to ramp up preparations in anticipation for the rush of nominations. “In view of this expected rush of nomination papers, all observers, district election officers, deputy commissioners and police should ensure that adequate arrangements for receiving nomination papers are put in place...,” state election commissioner Vijay Dev said on Thursday.
