The last date for filing nominations for polls to the 250 wards under the jurisdiction of the civic body was November 14, and as per the SEC data, 2,021 candidates from 15 different political parties filed 2,585 nominations. Of these, the state elections body was able to scrutinise 2,520, said officials, and rejected 1,115 nominations till 10pm on Wednesday.

The commission was not able to complete the scrutiny process on Wednesday and will continue on Thursday.

An SEC official on Wednesday said the most reasons for rejected nomination papers included incomplete forms or missing affidavits.
